Secure birth certificates, death certificates, and official records with intaglio printing and layered anti-counterfeit technologies designed for government programs.
Trusted by agencies that require document integrity, fraud prevention, and long-term authentication.
Vital records form the foundation of identity in the United States. Birth and death certificates must remain secure for decades, as they are used to establish identity for passports, licenses, and government benefits.
VeriTrace helps Departments of Health protect vital records with certified security printing, intaglio engraving, and layered anti-counterfeit technologies designed to prevent alteration, duplication, and fraud.

Certified Security Printing for Government Records

VeriTrace operates under ANSI/NASPO and ISO 14298 security printing standards, ensuring controlled materials, restricted production environments, and audited chain-of-custody procedures. These controls help agencies meet security, compliance, and audit requirements for official documents.
Intaglio Printing for High-Trust Documents
One of the Few U.S. Intaglio Security Printers
Intaglio printing remains the gold standard for high-trust government documents because it produces raised engraved features that counterfeiters struggle to replicate.
Intaglio printing produces raised ink textures and engraved linework that provide immediate tactile authentication. These features are extremely difficult for counterfeiters to replicate.
When combined with modern anti-counterfeit technologies, intaglio creates a multi-layer security platform that protects vital records throughout their lifecycle.
Multiple Coordinated Layers of Protection, One Secure Document
Engineered to prevent counterfeiting, detect tampering, and enable authentication at every level.
Each feature is powerful on its own. Together, they form a layered security system designed to detect, deter, and defeat counterfeiting at every level.

Engraved Intaglio Printing
Fine line border printed via intaglio process as used in currency and other high security printing through the use of steel engraved plates. Intaglio printing has a recognizable raised, tactile property that cannot be replicated by any other printing method or electronically reproduced by photocopiers or scanners.
Engraved Intaglio Latent Images (“V” and “R”)
The letters “V” (Vital) and “R” (Record) are hidden in the corners of the top border. These are part of the engraving and are viewed when laying the document flat at eye level in natural light.
Engraved “Vital Record” Micro-Print Line
Also forming part of the engraving is a continuous, repeated micro-line of the legend VITAL RECORD along the interior of the bottom border. This micro-line is only legible under a magnifying glass and will appear as a straight blurred line when copied.
Engraved CERTIFICATION OF VITAL RECORD Outlined Text and State Name (optional)
As an integral part of the engraved border this outline text enhances document recognition and authenticity.
Engraved State/County/Departmental Seals
State Seals, County Seals and Departmental Seals can be included as an integral part of the engraved border. The raised feel of these seals assist in document recognition and authenticity. These are recommended in preference to embossed seals that are easily replicable.
Lenticular Foil
Lenticular foil stamping is a specialized printing technique that combines the use of lenticular patterns with foil stamping to create visually stunning and dynamic micro-embossed effects.
Screened State/County/Departmental Seal
The State, County or Departmental name is imprinted as a screened image on the face of the document.
UV Invisible Sequential Numbering & Custom Print
UV invisible printing is a technique used to print hidden or concealed information on a surface that is invisible under normal lighting conditions but becomes visible when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. UV invisible ink can be used to incorporate hidden security features, such as signatures, seals, or sequential numbering on vital records. These hidden elements are difficult to replicate, enhancing the security and making it easier to distinguish genuine documents from counterfeits.
Holographic & Rainbow Foil
Holographic foil utilizes a holographic design to produce a three-dimensional and dynamic visual effect. The foil contains a micro-embossed pattern that diffracts light, resulting in a vivid and shimmering appearance. Rainbow foil, also known as iridescent foil, produces a shifting spectrum of colors when viewed from different angles. Both holographic and rainbow foils achieve their effects by utilizing a combination of metallic and transparent layers that reflect and refract light in different ways.
Sequential Control Numbering & Barcoding
Each document is sequentially numbered or sequentially bar-coded for inventory/audit and issuing/tracking purposes.
Secure QR Code Authentication
Dynamic QR codes connect physical documents to a controlled digital verification environment. Each scan can be connected to a system that validates authenticity in real time, while capturing location, timestamp, and user interaction data.
